About Ronit Alexander
Teaches Ivrit
Ronit Avitan Alexander was born and raised in Israel. She moved to NYC in 2015, where she taught Hebrew in the Harlem Hebrew Language Academy Charter School. Ronit then moved to Chicago in 2017 and taught Hebrew at The Solomon Schechter Day School as well as evening Hebrew language classes for adults at the Jewish Community Center. She currently teaches at Northwestern University.
Ronit graduated from Middlebury College in 2018 with a Master’s degree in Teaching Hebrew as a Second Language. She wrote her MA thesis on language anxiety and ways to increase participation in the language classroom. She has been part of the MA program, working as a TA and a Teaching Fellow for the last two years. Her findings in her thesis led her to further research focusing on providing meaningful feedback to language learners.
Ronit earned her BA in Psychology and Ancient Near East Studies from Ben Gurion University in Beer- Sheva, Israel. She is passionate about languages and has studied four foreign languages throughout her life. Ronit has experience teaching Hebrew at all levels and ages and strives to create engaging lessons focusing on communication and authentic materials.
