Head of School

Rabbi Cohen took over as Head of School at Derech Emunah in September 2018.

He received Semicha (Rabbinical Ordination) from Yeshivat Nishmat Avraham Rabbinical College in Yerushalayim and the Chief Rabbis of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv in 1996. Rabbi Cohen is a Talmid (student) of Rabbi Matisyahu Salomon, Mashgiach of Beth Medrash Govoha, Lakewood, NJ.

Rabbi Cohen has been in Jewish education since 1993 when he began his teaching career at The Menorah Academy in Edmonton, Alberta, and, following that, in 1996, taught at the Northwest Yeshiva High School, here in Seattle.

During Rabbi Cohen’s time as a congregational Rabbi, at Keter Torah, The Sephardic Community of Greater Detroit, and at Young Israel of Oak Park, he continued developing himself as an educator and leader through the many teaching opportunities these positions provided.

Rabbi Cohen’s diverse background and experience in various aspects of teaching have given him a unique perspective on high school education, enhanced by his many years of community involvement.
